The Caribbean crisis

On the Caribbean Crisis tour, you can learn details of the events of October 1962, as well as recently declassified facts about the true role of the Bunker 42 Taganka facility in the events of the confrontation between two nuclear powers – the USSR and the United States.

They are waiting for you on the tour:

  • thematic short film in the cinema hall at a depth of 65 meters;
  • mock-ups of tactical nuclear weapons and samples of special equipment that provided protection for the country during the Cold War;
  • the means of communication that allowed the underground command post to be an active combat facility for many years;
  • a unique exhibition dedicated to the events of the Caribbean crisis and its heroes;
  • simulation of a combat alert at the beginning of a nuclear weapon attack;

The tour will be useful for high school students who study the history of Russia and the USSR of the 20th century, as it carries the main lesson of the Caribbean crisis: one cannot even allow such a situation to arise in principle.

Most of the exhibits that you will see on the tour can be interacted with and photographed.

Duration of the tour: 1:10
The descent to the museum and ascent to the surface is carried out by stairs.
