Bunker Designers

Since the mid-1930s, the Metroproekt Institute, the same institute that developed the design of the Moscow metro, has been developing special fortifications.

Our bunker was no exception - design work began in 1947. L.P. personally followed the progress of the work. Beria - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR.

In 1949, after the first Soviet nuclear tests, the project was revised and I.V. Stalin signed a decree of the Council of Ministers on the construction of Bunker-42.

The design required the involvement of the widest range of specialists from many fields: civil engineers, power engineers, communications specialists, geologists, and so on. It is difficult to name any specific author-designer. N.D. can also be called such. Psurtsev - the future Minister of Communications of the USSR, the ideologist of construction. Or the chief engineer of the metro project - V.I. Medeiko. The names of the rest are still hidden from us by a veil of secrecy.

However, what we can say for sure is that the design and construction of our bunker has become an invaluable experience, which subsequently formed the basis for the creation of such construction organizations as Spetsstroy and Transinzhstroy, which employ top-class professionals specializing in construction of similar facilities today.
