Today we want to tell you the story of the holiday on February 23!

Since 1922, in the USSR, this date has traditionally been celebrated annually as the "Day of the Red Army", since 1946 - the "Day of the Soviet Army", from 1949 to 1992 - the "Day of the Soviet Army and Navy".

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the holiday is celebrated as "Defender of the Fatherland Day" and is a day of military glory for Russia, and is also celebrated in a number of other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Defender of the Fatherland Day is a holiday of men and women who are or were related to the defense of the Fatherland.
