USSR nuclear shield. The Beginning.

In the beginning of April 1946 the decision about carrying on a very secret project in a city which name and position were highly classified was made. The city had many names, but only one of them, Arzamas-16, became famous.

The most powerful USSR weapon, its first atomic bomb RDS-1, was developed there. You have a chance to see it with your own eyes in our museum Bunker-42.
